MAN v FAT Football is coming to Bradley Football Development Centre: DSC 0227

MAN v FAT Football – an FA-endorsed 14 week football league exclusively for the 68% of UK men who are overweight or obese launches in September at Bradley Football Development Centre, Grimsby.

Local men who want to tackle their weight issues now have the chance to join this incredibly successful weight loss league. MAN v FAT combines football with easy to follow diet and lifestyle advice as well as 24/7 online and offline support.

The unique aspect of MAN v FAT Football is that players weigh in before every game. So the final results are decided not just on the score on the pitch, but as a result of goal bonuses that teams earn from their weight loss. This enables players with limited mobility and disabilities to join the teams and still be a top performer for their side, simply by losing weight each week.

There’s weigh-ins before each game, but this is then followed-up by a 30 minute game of six-a-side football. Extra goal bonuses are awarded depending on the pounds lost by the players, so it becomes a real team effort.

Andrew Shanahan, Managing Director of MAN v FAT Football, said, "We’re delighted to work with Sport England and The FA to bring the leagues where losers win, to those who need it across England. We’ve seen how positive the leagues are as a way of supporting men who want to lose weight and get more active. What’s brilliant is that because of this funding we can bring these leagues without the normal fees for players, so the only thing you have to lose by joining the Lincs Inspire, Bradley Football Development Centre, Grimsby league is weight!”

Gary Precious, Football Development Manager at Bradley Football Development Centre, said: “This is a great opportunity for players to get back into playing the game, to gain confidence and be part of a successful team on and off the pitch. All those taking part are striving towards the same goal of losing weight and enjoying playing whilst supporting each other through the 14 weeks. We hope this scheme will help participants to enjoy a healthier life-style.”

The MAN v FAT Football program will be delivered by Lincs Inspire and launches at Bradley Football Development Centre from the 7th September and runs every Friday from 6pm to 8pm for the next 14 weeks. It costs £9.99 to register and is completely free of charge for the first season. The only thing you have to lose is weight…
